Lucia Stavros, an acclaimed harpist and vocalist based in Brooklyn, NY, will bring her gorgeous blend of chamber music and indie pop to the historic and stunning Cragsmoor Stone Church on Saturday, August 26.
Stavros’ new album ‘Burn You Up,’ a mesmerizing full group exploration that balances Stavros’ background in classical music with her love of the pop song form and the freedom of improvisation, will be released September 26. Bassist Aaron Edgecomb and drummer Sam Webber will perform with Stavros at the Stone Church.
A graduate of both the New England Conservatory and the L’Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, Stavros’ international performing experience reflects her multi-genre approach. She’s performed at theaters ranging from Carnegie Hall and the Apollo Theater to the Théâtre Montansier de Versailles and the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid. A leader of the widely praised NYC-based chamber pop-band Green and Glass (whose debut album was called “transcendent and beautiful” by Post-Trash), Stavros also performs with the experimental chamber group Ghost Ensemble and the S.E.M. Ensemble and the New York Repertory Ensemble. On Burn You Up- Stavros’ first album as a leader- these seemingly disparate worlds are made whole with soundscapes that integrate delicate passages of harp playing with more full-throated group improvisation and moments of majestic pop melody, sometimes within the same song.
